Five Benefits of Group Travel: The Detours Method

Whether trekking through the desert, climbing Machu Picchu, or sailing through the Mediterranean, travelling with a group can be a rewarding experience. Here are some reasons why group travel is the way to go when thinking of your next trip.

A Shared Experience.

Our philosophy is that travelling is best experienced as a shared endeavor, it creates a bond like none other with a group of people with all kinds of personalities, different backgrounds, and ages. You will find a common thread; a realization of the humanity between us all, that even though your experience will be uniquely your own, you still get to share these memories with people that have ventured with you into the unknown.

Make New Friends.

It can be lonely exploring a place you have never been to before, and difficult to reach out to strangers around you to meet up and hang out with. In a group, you instantly have people to meet and talk with and spend your time with. You will get to meet people you probably would otherwise not talk to in your regular life and make bonds that can last a lifetime.

Safety in Numbers.

Sometimes it can be scary going to a foreign country alone. Well, if you are travelling around with a group, you will always have the opportunity to have someone there with you as you walk around the streets of a different city. You will never be alone and can always count on there being someone with you along the way on your journey through your travels.

Moral Support.

Sometimes you go on a trip and there is that ONE activity you have always wanted to do but have always been scared to take the leap and do it. Well when you travel with a group, you will always have people there helping you push your own boundaries and experiences on things you would maybe otherwise not think of doing alone, and even join you on them too! IT always helps to have people there to courage and support you, so you don’t feel like you are alone.

Your Trip Leader.

One of the benefits of our group trips is that you will have a fearless and knowledgeable Trip Leader to help you with the things you want to do. They will be there to help organize everyone in activities that they want to do. If a few people want to take cooking classes- great! He’s there to make that happen. If a few people want to go to the beach and soak in the sun, he’s there to bring you there and enjoy it along with you! Your Trip Leader will always be around to enjoy your experience with you and make sure that your group is getting the most out of your trip.

One of the best things we like to provide is the alternative of enjoying the benefits of group travel with the flexibility of doing your own thing on your trip, should you choose to. Everyone always gets time to do some solo exploring, but also the option of joining others on fun things along the way and having the support there for you the entire time. We find there is no better way to see the world with than with a group of fun people that may just end up being friends for life.
