Meet Our Team: Billy!

Hello, hello! My name is Billy, and I’m hoping to be your next trip leader. My journey around the globe began when I moved to Australia at the ripe old age of 18. I saw amazing sights, learned why 50 SPF sunscreen was invented, and realized that life as I knew it had changed forever. It’s such a big, beautiful world we live in, and I wanted to see as much of it as I could.

Since then, I’ve spent two and a half years traveling full-time, visiting nearly 40 countries, and the more I see, the more I want to explore. Traveling is an incredible gift that truly keeps on giving. From exploring different cultures to trying mouth-watering foods and meeting new friends—I’ll take one of everything, thanks!

From motorbiking the length of Vietnam to working on farms in Australia to leading pub crawls in Croatia, it’s been a thrilling ride. I’ve experienced everything from perfect days to perfect storms, and each one holds some of my fondest memories. Whatever the world throws my way, for better or worse, I always make it out with a big smile, a new discovery, and a great story.

Originally from the Toronto area, I grew up on a small farm dreaming of what lay beyond. After half a year traveling Europe and falling in love with vibrant city life, I moved out to Vancouver to find my new home sweet home. Nearly a decade later, and there’s seldom a dull moment! My experience in tourism and hospitality, both professionally and personally, keeps my passion for exploring and my drive to discover the unknown alive.

While I couldn’t feel more blessed to live in the endless beauty of British Columbia, I’m thrilled to be working around the world as part of the Detours travel team.
