Meet Our Team: Jared!

Hi there! I’m Jared, a small-town Alberta native who grew up just outside Calgary. Over the years, I’ve lived in Calgary, Vancouver, Melbourne, and for the last eight years, beautiful Stockholm, Sweden.

Living in Europe has been a dream, giving me the chance to travel extensively and visit 22 incredible countries in and around the continent. I love immersing myself in local cultures, learning traditions, and figuring out how to live life like a local, even if just for a few days. Whether it’s trying their food, celebrating unique festivals, or simply connecting with people, those are the moments that make travel so rewarding for me.

My background is a bit of a mosaic, but there’s always been one common thread: people. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting and Directing, spent time as a professional actor, managed one of Calgary’s most popular restaurants, and eventually moved into teaching. For the past eight years, I’ve been working as an educator in Sweden, helping build knowledge, empathy and a better understanding of the world in others, while falling in love with the Swedish lifestyle and exploring the world whenever I can.

Every path I’ve taken has been driven by my passion for connecting with others– helping, entertaining, or creating unforgettable experiences. That’s exactly what excites me about leading trips with Detours.
