Meet Our Team: Shane!

Before Detours, I’d spent over a decade hopping across the globe — working, backpacking, and gathering stories you can't find in guidebooks. By the time I joined Miles in those early days, I was ready to take all that experience and pour it into something meaningful.

I started as a trip leader in 2014, and by 2018, I became Detours’ first full-time office employee — working elbow-to-elbow with Miles from his dining room table. Together, through every challenge, red-eye flight, and spreadsheet meltdown, we built something bigger than either of us imagined. In 2021, I officially became a partner in the company, and helping shape Detours into one of the world’s most vibrant LGBTQ+ travel communities has been the adventure of a lifetime — and we’re just getting started.

Travel is in my DNA. I moved 18 times before I turned 18 (nope, not military — just my parents' version of fun), and I’ve been chasing the horizon ever since. But what fuels me most isn’t just the destination — it’s the people. I’m here to help you experience the world in all its beauty, culture, chaos, and joy — and to remind you that life gets better the further outside your comfort zone you go.
